RIAA = Macarthy

I've just seen this on the drowned in sound site, and couldnt believe my eyes.....?? It features in a short article about being able to download tracks from the recent Reading festival in Blighty. Is it for real? Or a total joke??

Qua - Aussie group are cool shock

The music from the group Qua, aka one Cornel Wilczek, is tremendous. Really. If you are enjoying the soundscapes of Explosions in the Sky, Boards of Canada, Trans Am or similar stuf, then you will like Qua. Get the mp3s, watch the quicktime movie animation. It's all very good news for clever music fans everywhere.

Jack Valenti proved to be 'wanker'

So yet again the courts in USA, whilst being more easy to manipulate [hello friendly financial perks for senators touting the 'stop all dirty illegal we cant control the horrible internet usage' type bills] than over here in Blighty, have still come out in favour of the companies providing file sharing software. Grokster and Streamcast are NOT legally resonsible for what is being shared over the net using their software. Jack Valenti and his enormouss legal purse cannot stop the download war by bullying the manufacturers and designers of the technology. Oh how he must have cried. Oh how the rest of us laughed our teeth out.

More on Morpheus and the sad state of the RIAA etc.....

----

[23-08-04] Today it was announced on British Radio that the BPI [British Phonographic Industry] has released sales figures confirming that sales of singles have increased for the first time in many years. Sales of albums are at an all time high - this in a country where an estimated 17 million people have used p2p file sharing to get music from the net. Who is lying to whom about the so called devastating effect of p2p on the entertainment Industry. Are they all just too scared to accept that they don't rule the roost anymore????

Working Britain, the Greatest People in the World

Ive wanted to post this rant by Tom at Artrocker for the last week or so, but blogger has been behaving very oddly, so only now do I get a chance...[is anyone else having problems with the posting a blogger? Or even accessing he site? No? Just me then....]btw, the picture here is of the main pier building at Southsea, another rotting British Amusement Arcade Coastal Paradise.

Anyway, it's a great rant singing the praises of the British Working Class. Should be very educational to all Stateside residents.....

Punctuation and Good Grammar?

Anal bloggers may have seen/read the article on blogger about spelling and grammar etc. Interesting, in that, it's written by an American. To any 'bad teeth' English type, that's a bit of a non starter. Honor, anyone? What about center? What about 'sidewalk', not the correct 'pavement'? Or just look at this list, as they've done the work http://www3.telus.net/linguisticsissues/BritishCanadianAmerican.htm

Point taken then. Is it living language, or is it Lazy Good For Nothings dictating to the rest of us a dumbed down level of interaction? In the name of the market place, the hallowed ground of the money making machine. It's not just charming regional expressions we're talking here, it's full on changing the rules. [Ebonics, anyone? ]

Anyone lucky enough to visit the wilds of Yorkshire, Cumbria or other bleak far flung corners of Blighty will hear a sense of wordage that has long died out for the rest of us. Is that a good thing? Or are we all full of s**t. [Did I just make up the word 'wordage'?]

[Update - there were 3 sloppy typos in this post when I checked properly. Let that be a lesson to us all!]

Its a Beautiful Day

Ive not been able to post for the last couple of days as Blogger seemed inaccessible to me, but now at last, it has returned. Normal service will be resumed once Ive got some annoying 'work' out of the way.

Creepy Head Flash

It's spamnet's fault, he keeps finding very cool flash type things, and I obviously live in his shadow. This is, like he says, the best music flash around in a long time......a must view, even if you dont like the 'head.

Dodgy Justice for All

So I finally found a bit of news covering what Banksy has been doing in Clerkenwell - erecting a statue of justice, thats dressed as a whore. Haha indeed. For anyone who isnt too familiar with Banksy, he is a legendary figure of rebellion and art, that I think comes from Brighton[?] or London, been around since the graffiti days, and is a whole lot more interesting than damien hurst and tracy emin et al. I think Banksy rocks my world........
