Censorship, big and small
Just heard two bits of news:
1 - Fox news is to be 'banned' in the UK, after Offcomm, the broadcast standards authority deemed it far too biased and untruthful to be granted broadcast rights in Britain. This is quite refreshing, although I feel a dangerous precedent.
2 - One Joe Gordon [I think] has just been fired from a Scottish branch of Waterstones for slagging his workplace off on his blog. His blog is here. This is a slightly worrying development, as blogging about your sh*tty boss isn't really a hanging offence, but obviously if it's on the net, must be regarded as some form of slander.
These two events are releated. Censorship and regulation have an increasing effect on us all.
